Pathumwan Princess Hotel Review
The Pathumwan Princess Hotel is in one of the busiest parts of the city, always buzzing from morning until evening. If you enjoy being in the centre of the action, you’ll love it here. Personally, I found it a bit too hectic for my taste, but the hotel itself is stunning, calm, and beautifully designed.
The Room & Comfort
My room was spacious, modern, and had incredible night views of the Bangkok skyline. Despite being in such a lively area, the rooms are soundproof, so you don’t hear the city noise once you’re inside — a huge plus if you’re a light sleeper.
The bed was extremely comfortable, and the pillows were amazing — honestly some of the best I had during my entire Thailand trip.
There was also a triple-filtered tap in the room (yes, filtered water straight from the tap!), which I used and found perfectly safe to drink. Complimentary snacks and drinks were provided too — a lovely touch that made the stay feel more premium.
At around £115 per night, it’s pricier than most Bangkok hotels, but the comfort and quality make it worth it for a short stay.
Location & Area
The MBK Center Mall is literally part of the same building — hotel guests can access it directly through a private entrance. This makes it incredibly convenient for daytime shopping and dining.
However, the area outside is always busy — whether you’re popping to 7-Eleven or heading out for the day, there are constant crowds. Once the shops close, though, it becomes much quieter, and I didn’t find much nightlife nearby. It’s definitely more of a shopping area than a social one, so if you’re after evening entertainment, you might prefer another district.
Tip: Visit Big C Supercenter (about a 10-minute walk). It’s open until midnight and feels like Thailand’s version of Costco — packed with affordable snacks, beauty products, and souvenirs.
My Honest Shopping Advice
If you’re a serious shopper, I’d actually suggest staying elsewhere and just visiting this area during the day.
The nearby malls — MBK, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon — are fun to explore, but the real shopping gem is Chatuchak Weekend Market (open Fri–Sun). It’s not close to this hotel, but it’s absolutely worth visiting for unique clothing, accessories, and handmade pieces at much better prices.
In short: stay somewhere calmer, and head to the markets for the real Bangkok shopping experience.
The Louis Vuitton Experience
One of the reasons I chose to stay in this area was because I’d booked the Louis Vuitton Experience, which is not part of the hotel, but is located nearby at the Louis Vuitton store within the surrounding shopping district.
It’s a completely free experience you can book through the official LV website, and it’s designed like a small fashion museum — creative, interactive, and beautifully curated.
At the end, visitors receive a free LV gift (I got collectible LV postcards 💌).
Tip: book early — appointments open about three months in advance and fill quickly.
Final Verdict
The Pathumwan Princess Hotel- SHA Extra Plus Certified is elegant, comfortable, and professionally run. The rooms are soundproof and relaxing, the beds are incredibly comfy, and the service is excellent.
The location, however, is extremely busy during the day and can feel overwhelming. Once the shops close, it quiets down but offers little nightlife or atmosphere in the evenings.
Overall, it’s ideal for a short stay (one to three nights) if you want to explore Bangkok’s central shopping scene and nearby attractions. The hotel itself is lovely, but the area’s constant buzz makes it less suited for longer visits.
